【Activity Report】Multicultural Co-Learning with Kasumi
2026.7.23
From July 2 to 4, 2026, a multicultural co-learning program was conducted in collaboration with Kasumi Co., Ltd. Against the backdrop of social issues identified by Ibaraki Prefecture and Tsukuba City, such as the declining birthrate, ageing population, labor shortages, and declining competitiveness of regional industries, Kasumi Co., Ltd., the partner company for this program, presented the challenge: “How can Kasumi attract more young customers?”
Mixed teams of Japanese and international students worked together through group discussions and field research to analyze the core of the problem from multicultural perspectives and develop concrete and feasible solutions, including business strategies, organizational improvements, and public relations initiatives. As part of the field research, participants visited two Kasumi stores in Tsukuba City, where they observed and analyzed product displays and store strategies firsthand. On the final day, each team presented its proposals to the stakeholders, providing an opportunity to strengthen participants’ problem-solving skills in real-world contexts, intercultural collaboration skills, and awareness of career development.
