The 5th Batch of the SEA-Teacher Pilot Program – A Multicultural Co-Learning Program for Teaching Practicum in Southeast Asia – Successfully Concludes
2026.04.10
The SEA-Teacher Pilot Program is a one-month international teaching practicum that brings together students from three Southeast Asian countries and Japan to learn and teach together. The program is implemented as part of the Global Startup Human Resource Development through GASSHUKU and DOJO initiative under the Social Impact Project, which was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in FY2024.
Through this multicultural co-learning program, participants teach in real classrooms within different cultural and educational settings while working closely with local teachers and students. Beyond simply delivering knowledge, they are expected to engage learners from diverse backgrounds, encourage critical thinking, and support meaningful learning. This experience fosters not only language proficiency and teaching skills, but also the ability to understand different perspectives, collaborate across cultures, and solve problems together—practical competencies that are increasingly essential in today’s global society.

Participants shared reflections such as:
“I realized that carefully designed questions can encourage students to think more deeply.”
“Teaching in a different cultural environment significantly transformed my perspective on education.”
These experiences provided students with valuable opportunities to engage with the fundamental nature of education beyond national borders.
Through this program, we aim to cultivate individuals who can thrive across regions and countries and create social value through education by engaging in cross-border learning experiences.
The program is not limited to sending students overseas. By also welcoming students from partner institutions abroad, it brings new perspectives and fresh inspiration to Japanese educational settings. This reciprocal exchange fosters meaningful interactions between domestic and international participants, creating a richer and more inclusive learning environment.

The Social Impact Project will continue to promote multicultural co-learning and international educational initiatives to create meaningful social impact that extends beyond the boundaries of education.
