茨城県北の大子町は、袋田の滝等の豊富な観光資源を有していますが、その一方で少子高齢化や気候変動にともなう様々な課題に直面しています。本プログラムは、大子町が有する課題の現状を、フィールドワークを通して調査し、国内外の多文化視点で解決法を提案するものです。特に、課題およびその解決策がステークホルダーの生活にどのようなインパクトを与えるかを具体的に理解するために、大子町を舞台としたマンガのストーリーを考えてもらいます。マンガの作画はAIで行いますので、マンガ作画の経験がなくても本プログラムに参加出来ます。
Daigo Town, located in northern Ibaraki Prefecture, boasts abundant tourist attractions such as Fukuroda Falls; however, it also faces various challenges stemming from a declining birth rate, an ageing population and climate change. This programme involves investigating the current state of Daigo Town’s challenges through fieldwork and proposing solutions from multicultural perspectives both within Japan and abroad. In particular, to gain a concrete understanding of how these challenges and their solutions will impact the lives of stakeholders, participants will be asked to devise a manga story set in Daigo Town. As the manga artwork will be created with AI, participation in this programme is open to anyone, even those with no prior experience in manga illustration.
なぜマンガストーリーを作るのか？ Why create manga stories?
地域課題や地球規模課題の解決法を考えるにあたって、もちろんその課題や解決法が社会にどのようなインパクトを与えるかを考えることは重要なことです。しかし、そこで終わってはいけません。「その課題が解決されると何人が恩恵を受けることが出来る」という言われ方をしますが、この「何人」はただの人数ではなくひとりひとりの異なる事情や生活や人生が背景にあります。
マンガは個性と内面を持ったキャラクターがそれぞれの物語を紡ぎます。マンガのストーリーを作ることで、課題が起こった、そして解決された社会で人々がどのような人生を歩むのかを想像することにつながります。

When considering solutions to local or global issues, it is, of course, important to think about the impact those issues and solutions will have on society. However, we must not stop there. We often hear the phrase, ‘How many people will benefit if this issue is resolved?’, but this ‘how many’ does not simply refer to a number; behind it lie the unique circumstances, lives and personal histories of each individual.
In manga, characters with distinct personalities and inner lives weave their own stories. Creating manga stories allows us to imagine the lives people will lead in a society where a problem has arisen and been resolved.

2026年7月1日：事前学習、大子町および課題のブリーフィング（オンデマンド学習を併用）
7月3日：大子町へ移動、フィールドワーク（課題サイト視察）
7月4日：フィールドワーク（課題の調査）
7月5日：グループワーク（課題の分析・解決法の策定、マンガストーリー案作成）
7月6日：大子町関係者の前で成果発表会（日本語）・講評。
7月8日：事後学習（学内成果報告会）修了式。
1 July 2026: Pre-programme study; briefing on Daigo Town and its challenges (combined with on-demand learning)
3 July: Travel to Daigo Town; fieldwork (site visits to relevant locations)
4 July: Fieldwork (investigation of challenges)
5 July: Group work (analysis of challenges, formulation of solutions, and creation of manga story concepts)
6 July: Presentation of results (in Japanese) and feedback session in front of Daigo Town officials.
8 July: Post-programme learning (on-campus results presentation) and closing ceremony.
