Overwhelming Turnout for Social Impact Project Guidance Session

2026.04.16

More than 50 students participated in the Social Impact Project Guidance Session, reflecting strong interest in international learning opportunities. The session is part of the ongoing “Study Abroad Fair” of the Students Support Center (SSC) to introduce and promote study abroad programs.

It started with an overview of Social Impact Activities, providing students with a clear understanding of the purpose and scope of these initiatives. This was followed by an explanation on the benefits for participants, including the opportunity to earn digital badges and develop an e-portfolio that highlights their global experiences and achievements.

A case study on a Social Impact Project was then presented by Assoc. Prof. Nakao Nomura (Institute of Life and Environmental Science), offering practical insights into how such projects are designed and implemented.

The session also featured a student sharing segment. One student shared their experience in the SEA Teacher Program in Thailand, where they engaged in international internship teaching in local schools. Another student presented their participation in three multicultural co-learning activities conducted in Taiwan (activating business activities), Malaysia (water environment), and the Philippines (learning poverty), each addressing different social themes. This is an ideal case because we encourage students to be part of several Social Impact Projects.

During the open forum, students actively raised questions regarding expected expenses, available financial support, and necessary preparations for participation. The discussion highlighted both the practical considerations and the strong motivation among students to engage in global programs.

This overwhelming turnout and active participation show the growing enthusiasm of students to explore opportunities beyond the classroom. The high level of interest sends a clear message to faculty members that there is strong demand for multicultural co-learning opportunities overseas.
