【Activity Report】A Multicultural Co-Learning Program on Climate-Smart Agriculture in Japan and Taiwan was Conducted.

From July 6 to 12, 2026, the University of Tsukuba hosted 15 participants from National Chung Hsing University (Taiwan, Taichung City), including 13 students and 2 accompanying faculty members. A one-week participatory training program consisting of lectures, facility visits, and other activities was conducted at the University of Tsukuba and Tokyo University of Agriculture. Eight Japanese students from the University of Tsukuba also participated in the program. They accompanied the facility visits and supported the Chung Hsing University students by providing explanations and assistance when certain parts of the tours were difficult to understand. On the weekend, they also joined the students during free exploration activities in Tokyo, further deepening cultural exchange among participants.
To evaluate the outcomes of the training, Chung Hsing University students held a group-based presentation session on the final day of the program at the University of Tsukuba. After each presentation, presenters responded to questions and comments from University of Tsukuba faculty members and students. Through participation in this program, students from National Chung Hsing University deepened their knowledge and understanding of advanced research in biological resource sciences, agricultural technologies, and the current conditions and challenges of temperate agriculture in Japan.
