The University of Tsukuba is a national university located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is one of the former government-run universities with a history dating back to the pre-World War II era under the old educational system, and, along with Hiroshima University, is one of the two former national universities of liberal arts and sciences. It has also been designated as a “Top-tier” institution under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Super Global University Initiative and as a designated national university corporation.
