協定校であるマレーシアのマラヤ大学とのGASSHUKUが実現しました！
マラヤ大学の学士課程の学生が8月17日から23日までつくばに滞在しました。現場での体験を通じて、課題を理解し、その解決に向けた提案を考えることが目的です。8月19日には、水戸市の茨城県国際交流協会においてワークショップが開催され、約25名のマレーシア人学生と日本人学生が参加しました。テーマは「外国人在住者に対する日本語・日本文化の普及」と「多文化共生」。県内地方自治体の日本語教育の現状や課題について協会から説明を受けた後、学生たちは地域社会における外国人在住者支援のあり方について活発に意見交換を行いました。
茨城県では、急速に増加する外国人在住者への対応として、茨城県国際交流協会を中心に多文化共生に向けたさまざまな取り組みが行われています。その一環として、マレーシア・マラヤ大学と筑波大学の学生による多文化共修プログラムが実施されました。
このプログラムは、地域の現実に触れながら課題解決型学習（PBL）を実践する貴重な機会となり、学生たちにとって多文化共生社会を考える有意義な学びの場となりました。日本とマレーシアの学生同士の交流を通じて、相互理解と協働の可能性がさらに広がりました。

A joint GASSHUKU program with the University of Malaya, one of our partner universities in Malaysia, has been successfully held!
Undergraduate students from the University of Malaya stayed in Tsukuba from August 17 to 23. The purpose of their visit was to gain an understanding of local challenges through hands-on experiences and to develop proposals for possible solutions.
On August 19, a workshop was held at the Ibaraki International Association in Mito City, with about 25 Malaysian and Japanese students participating. The themes were “Promotion of Japanese Language and Culture among Foreign Residents” and “Multicultural Coexistence.” After receiving an explanation from the association about the current situation and challenges of Japanese language education in local municipalities, the students actively exchanged ideas on how to better support foreign residents in the community.
In Ibaraki Prefecture, the number of foreign residents is rapidly increasing, and the Ibaraki International Association has been leading a variety of initiatives to promote multicultural coexistence. This program, carried out in collaboration with the Association, brought together students from the University of Malaya and the University of Tsukuba to explore these pressing issues through joint learning.
The program provided a valuable opportunity for students to engage in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) while experiencing the realities of multicultural coexistence in the region. It not only deepened students’ understanding of social challenges but also fostered meaningful cross-cultural exchange, enhancing mutual understanding and the potential for future collaboration between Japan and Malaysia.
