１０月１７日に第４回目グローバルスタートアッパーセミナーを開催しました。グローバルスタートアップセミナーは、広い視野を持ち、国内外で活躍できる人材の育成を目的に、今年度ソーシャルインパクト推進室が新たに立ち上げたプログラムです。今回は、本学人間学類の卒業生で、現在フロリダ大学教授、そしてアメリカ教育学会（AERA）の主要学術誌である American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) の総編集長としてご活躍中の秋場素子氏をお招きし、「From Campus to Career: 学生生活から社会人へ～世界を舞台に～」というタイトルで講演をいただました。秋場先生の筑波大学での学生時代に得た経験や海外で様々な異なる背景を持つ人たちと交流される中で身に着けられた考え方、そして現在に至るまでの国際キャリアの歩みについて語っていただきました。セミナーには学生を中心に30名以上が参加し、質疑応答の時間には多くの学生からの質問に一つ一つ丁寧にお答えいただきました。ご自身のキャリアの話だけではなく、海外での「マイノリティ」としての体験や、自分が何をしたいか、という軸で物事を考えることなど、学生が勇気をもって海外に踏み出すための様々なヒントをいただきました。今回のセミナーの参加者には、後日JV-Campusを通してオープンバッジ（パープルバッジ）が付与されます。
On October 17, the 4th Global Startupper Seminar was held. The Global Startupper Seminar is a new program launched this year by the Office for Social Impact Promotion, aiming to foster individuals with a broad perspective who can play active roles both in Japan and abroad.
For this session, we invited Dr. Motoko Akiba, a graduate of the College of Human Sciences at the University of Tsukuba, who is currently a Professor at Florida State University and the Editor-in-Chief of AERJ (American Educational Research Journal) under AERA. She delivered a lecture titled “From Campus Life to Career.”
Dr. Akiba shared her experiences and perspectives gained as a student at Tsukuba, as well as her journey toward building an international career. More than 30 participants, mainly students, attended the seminar. During the Q&A session, she kindly responded to each question from the students with thoughtful and detailed answers.
In addition to discussing her career path, Dr. Akiba also spoke about her experiences as a “minority” abroad and emphasized the importance of understanding yourself and communicating what you need. Her talk offered valuable insights and encouragement for students aspiring to take on challenges overseas.
Participants of this seminar will later be awarded an Open Badge (Purple Badge) through JV-Campus.
