茨城県北の大子町は、袋田の滝等の豊富な観光資源を有していますが、その一方で少子高齢化や気候変動にともなう様々な課題に直面しています。本プログラムは、大子町が有する課題の現状を、フィールドワークを通して調査し、国内外の多文化視点で解決法を提案するものです。特に、課題およびその解決策がステークホルダーの生活にどのようなインパクトを与えるかを具体的に理解するために、大子町を舞台としたマンガのストーリーを考えてもらいます。
- 活動スケジュール
2026年7月1日：事前学習、大子町および課題のブリーフィング（オンデマンド学習を併用）
7月3日：大子町へ移動、フィールドワーク（課題サイト視察）
7月4日：フィールドワーク（課題の調査）
7月5日：グループワーク（課題の分析・解決法の策定、マンガストーリー案作成）
7月6日：大子町関係者の前で成果発表会（日本語）・講評。
7月8日：事後学習（学内成果報告会）修了式。
- 募集人数：9名
- 参加条件
学群生・大学院修士・博士前期課程の正規生、交換留学生なら専門・国籍を問わずどなたでも参加出来ます。
国籍の異なる学生によるグループワークですので日常会話に支障がない程度の英語力があることが望ましいです。
- 費用
宿泊費（町の研修センターに宿泊します）、現地移動用レンタサイクル代、施設入場料の実費を申し受けます。
上記経費の支援について調整中です。
筑波大学から大学までの移動はバスをチャーターいたしますが、その経費はこちらで負担いたします。
本プログラムは正課外の活動のため単位は付与されませんが、全日程に参加し、所期の学修を修めたと大学が認める者には、修了証とともに、各コンピテンスの到達度を示すオープンバッジ（※）を授与します。
※オープンバッジとは、世界共通の技術標準規格に沿って発行されるデジタル証明・認証です。物ではなく、データとして授与され、自分専用の「オープンバッジウォレット」で一元管理されます。授与されたオープンバッジは、SNSでの共有ができるほか、自身の学修歴の内容を示すエビデンスとしても使用可能です。本事業でのオープンバッジは、JV Campusを介して発行されます。

Let’s think about solving problems through manga story making! Call for participants: ‘Multicultural Collaborative Field Study Aimed at Solving Local Issues in Daigo Town, Ibaraki Prefecture’!
Daigo Town, located in northern Ibaraki Prefecture, boasts abundant tourist attractions such as Fukuroda Falls; however, it also faces various challenges stemming from a declining birth rate, an ageing population and climate change. This programme involves investigating the current state of Daigo Town’s challenges through fieldwork and proposing solutions from multicultural perspectives both within Japan and abroad. In particular, to gain a concrete understanding of how these challenges and their solutions will impact the lives of stakeholders, participants will be asked to devise a manga story set in Daigo Town.
- Activity Schedule
1 July 2026: Pre-programme study; briefing on Daigo Town and its challenges (combined with on-demand learning)
3 July: Travel to Daigo Town; fieldwork (site visits to relevant locations)
4 July: Fieldwork (investigation of challenges)
5 July: Group work (analysis of challenges, formulation of solutions, and creation of manga story concepts)
6 July: Presentation of results (in Japanese) and feedback session in front of Daigo Town officials.
8 July: Post-programme learning (on-campus results presentation) and closing ceremony.

- Participation Requirements
Any full-time undergraduate, Master’s or first-year PhD student, or exchange student is eligible to participate, regardless of discipline or nationality.
Participants are requested to attend the entire programme.
As group work will involve students of different nationalities, a level of English proficiency sufficient for everyday conversation is desirable.
- Costs
Participants will be required to cover the actual costs of accommodation (at the town’s training centre), rental bicycles for local travel, and admission fees to facilities.
We are currently arranging support for the above expenses.
We will charter a bus for travel between Tsukuba University and the venue, and we will cover the cost of this.
- Credits and Certificate of Completion
As this programme is an extracurricular activity, no academic credits will be awarded. However, participants who attend the entire programme and are recognised by the University as having achieved the intended learning outcomes will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, along with Open Badges (*) indicating their level of attainment in each competency.
*Open Badges are digital certificates and credentials issued in accordance with globally recognised technical standards. They are awarded as data rather than physical items and are centrally managed in a personal ‘Open Badge Wallet’. Awarded Open Badges can be shared on social media and used as evidence of one’s learning history. Open Badges for this programme will be issued via JV Campus.
