Call for Participants (February 1–7, 2026)

The Bachelor’s Program in Global Issues (BPGI), University of Tsukuba, is now recruiting participants for the Multicultural Joint Learning Program with National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. In this program, students from both universities will explore local issues in Tainan City, exchange ideas for possible solutions, and visualize the impact of these solutions on individuals by creating a manga-based storyline.

Program Schedule

February 1–7, 2026 (Taipei / Taichung / Tainan)

・February 1: Travel from Tokyo to Taipei; overnight stay in Taipei

・February 2: Visit to the National Museum of Natural Science (Taichung); travel to Tainan

・February 3–4: Site visits in Tainan City

・February 5: Workshop at National Cheng Kung University

・February 6: Workshop, final presentations; travel to Taipei; overnight stay in Taipei

・February 7: Return to Japan

Pre-departure and post-program sessions will also be held.

Participation Fee

・Approx. 150,000 JPY (airfare + accommodation; final amount being adjusted)

・60,000 JPY subsidy available through the “Habata-ke! Tsukuba Students” Overseas Study Support Program

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

・Undergraduate or graduate (Master’s / Doctoral first-stage) students of the University of Tsukuba ※ Students on a leave of absence are not eligible

・Of any nationality, provided they can travel to Taiwan

・Able to communicate in everyday English and collaborate with peers

Up to 10 students (Selection will be conducted if applications exceed capacity.)

Application Deadline

Friday, December 12, 2025, at noon

Applications may close earlier depending on the number of submissions. Early application is recommended.

Selection & Notification

・Selection will be based on application documents, language ability, and overall suitability

・Results will be notified by email by Friday, December 19, 2025

Credits & Completion Certification

Participants who complete all required activities will receive:

・Course credits, and

・A Digital Open Badge (Gold) issued through JV-Campus
