“First Overseas Travel Support Program” (30,000 JPY Travel Support) Begins!

To provide more students with opportunities to experience study abroad and overseas training during their time at the University of Tsukuba, the university has launched the “First Overseas Travel Support Program” (hereinafter referred to as “this program”) to support students taking on their first overseas challenge. This program is available for students who have not previously participated in study abroad programs during their enrollment at the university. Students who meet the following conditions are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
※The definition of “study abroad” includes participation in educational or research activities at the University of Tsukuba or overseas universities, as well as intercultural experiences and language learning programs (including short-term training programs). Whether credits are earned or not does not matter. Conference participation is excluded.

30,000 JPY travel expense support
● Eligible Students
Students who meet all of the following requirements:
- Students must be enrolled in a regular degree program at the University of Tsukuba for the entire period from the start to the end of the program.
- Students must have no previous study abroad experience (including study abroad at the University of Tsukuba) at the time of participation.
- Students must participate in the entire program schedule, including pre- and post-program learning activities.
- Students must not have previously received support from this program during their enrollment.
- Students must complete the necessary procedures to receive support without delay.
- Students must agree to return the full amount of financial support if it is found that they received the support through false applications or other fraudulent means.
● Programs Eligible for Travel Expense Support
This support program applies only to designated programs. The eligible program is the “Multicultural Co-Learning Light Plan.”
Through the Social Impact Creation Support Project, the university has been working to help students acquire four competencies through Multicultural Co-Learning: intercultural understanding, multilingual understanding, career design, and global issues understanding.
The “Multicultural Co-Learning Light Plan” is an introductory program designed to make it easier for students with no overseas travel experience to participate. Through cultural exchange with local students and learning about local social issues, the program aims to encourage students to take on further challenges, such as future Multicultural Co-Learning programs and long-term study abroad opportunities.
