Introduced University of Tsukuba’s new Initiative at 10th SEA-Teacher Pilot Program Evaluation Meeting

2025.8.13

At the 10th SEA-Teacher Program Evaluation Meeting, participating institutions reviewed dispatch and hosting activities, shared outcomes, and discussed improvements for future rounds.

Launched in 2016, the SEA-Teacher Program is a reciprocal teaching practicum enabling aspiring teachers from four countries in Southeast Asia and Japan to engage in international collaborative learning. The University of Tsukuba, the only institution from outside the SEAMEO region, has been implementing the program as a pilot initiative.

As a panelist, the university presented its pilot efforts, educational impact, and future challenges. Third-cohort students also joined online to share how the program positively shaped their career aspirations.

Recognized as a multicultural collaborative learning course under MEXT’s Social Impact Creation Support Project, the program was further highlighted in a presentation, which drew active engagement from participating universities. Expansion within ASEAN and greater participation from Japanese universities are anticipated.
