Design Across Borders: Debriefing Session & Special Lecture on UGA × University of Tsukuba Collaborative Workshop

2025.10.22

As part of the Dojo multicultural co-learning activities, the College of Art and Design and the Degree Programs in Design at the University of Tsukuba conducted the Université Grenoble Alpes – University of Tsukuba Joint Design Workshop (ENSAG–UT Joint Design WS 2025) in Grenoble, France, in September 2025.

We are pleased to announce a Debriefing Session and Special Lecture featuring Professor Philippe Liveneau and Lecturer Amal AbuDaya from Université Grenoble Alpes.
During the presentation, participating students will share their design processes and outcomes, followed by commentary and feedback.

Everyone interested is welcome to join—come and see the results of this international co-creation!

Date & Time: Friday, October 24, 2025, 10:00–12:00

Venue: Room 308, Building 6A

The program focuses on small-scale shared architectural projects, carried out through intensive workshops. Participants engage in the full design process—research, issue identification, concept development, prototyping, installation, and evaluation—in close collaboration with real-world stakeholders.

Conducted on a global stage, the workshop integrates both digital design/fabrication and manual fabrication methods, blending new and traditional techniques. Through this hands-on, cross-cultural experience, students explore the joy and potential of design while cultivating creative thinking and resilient practical skills.

ENSAG-UT Joint Design WS:

In collaboration with Université Grenoble Alpes (France), past projects in Grenoble have included playground equipment for a kindergarten, pavilions for a prefectural art museum, and structures for museum gardens. In 2025, participants designed and installed a pavilion, deck, and stools in the garden of the Château de Vizille / French Revolution Museum, the birthplace of the French Revolution.
